This morning after the boys finish T-Ball and I meet with my trainer, we're headed back to the shore for the night. Back to this place.

Hammonasset State Park is a great place to train- it's pretty big, pretty flat, a nice stretch of beach that I can't wait to swim train in, trail running- (easier on my joints), the trail riding is easy and relaxing- I take Sally out for a minimum of 10 miles usually every day we're there, and it's just pretty. Hopefully T1 and T2 will cooperate enough to go fishing with their dadums, instead of trying to kill each other. I know their dad wants to show them the finer things of fishing, (sorry Glav, you like it or you don't- that's about it. Just bring a cold one, and relax- too bad you don't have a notebook to blog while 'I' does his thing.)
This is my brother and my cousins a few years ago, they went on a chartered fishing trip and caught lots of bass off Point Judith RI, my brother is holding the 'his catch of the day'. There is fishing in our family- for many generations, professionally, you like it or you don't.

I'm hitting the elliptical trainer this week as my ham string still is giving me a problem and the Race for the Cure is in a week, and the Calhoun Ride the week following. It's all good, I've got to get better at this sometime, right?? Foam roller, ice, ibuprofen...yeah yeah yeah.
Laps at the YMCA went 'swimmingly', haha. I'm actually getting the flip turn thing... practice, practice, practice... then I'll show off the big guns like tri-girl Missy, cuz Mel and I seem to be on that path. I've got my grrrrr on!!
This is another pic of the park.
Have a great weekend everyone!!

oooh, would love to go to the beach! let's get them big guns!! :) i haven't moved up to doing the flip turns yet though lol hope the hamstring keeps healing/cooperating.
OMG Mel, this reaaallly cute lifeguard was helping with advice, lol!!! I kept getting water up my nose, like every time, and he would tell me what I was doing wrong. I wish you were with me, we could have had some fun with that!! But seriously, he taught me, not my swim coach- she was teaching me a different technique.
I wish you and Jay were enjoying the weekend down here as well... someday. :)
Wow - gorgeous beach! And way to go you!! Are you doing the Race for the Cure in DC?
Les,
Hi!! Hope you're feeling better!!
I'm running the Hartford Race For The Cure Saturday.
Yesterday my trainer gave me a new fitness program, so hopefully I won't be so taxed for my races.
I didn't realize strength training changes for in season... I should have read Jeff Galloways book...duh... LMAO!!
I am handing over my tickets to the gun show to you and Mel!:) With my decrease in weekly yardage (like half), the arms are going slowly back to their Olive Oyl ways. Hahaha. Oh, screw a flip turn. I can do em but for what? A good open turn is as good as any.
Nice beach!
I can't flip turn worth anything.. of course, since 95% of my lifetime swimming has been in a lake/pond/etc, yeah, I guess I wouldn't be very good at it. hehe
Thanks for swinging by.. :)
Great pics!!! I haven't been to Hamonossett since grade school, but I work in Fairfield so I can run on their beaches from time to time...maybe this week.
Nice spot to train, sister!
I don't have to laern how to fish since Ian's become best buds with Fisherman Ralph, three houses down! Woo-hoo! Ian gest to fish with a guy who likes it and i get to NOT fish!
So I can drink my beer in the comfort of my own home.
Missy & Raul-
I grew up in a really small town here in Ct- I pretty much swam in rivers and ponds till I moved to Waterbury- where they had pools at school. At that point, why botha-?? Not to mention I thought the pool was disgusting, and the locker room- frightful!
AND, I'm a scuba diver- no flip turns needed there either.
G-
Good for you!! You're a great writer and Ian will learn so much from his brilliant mom and dad. He is sooo lucky, as are you both with him. TB will even teach him how to txt mssg...
Can you do me a huge favor? Can you check if my entries allow anyone to post a comment? When I try - even when logged out, I can't. I don't know if it's messed up or everyone is super busy.
Thank you!
Les,
No, it's not letting me. Check on your settings, with your new layout (very nice, btw), you may have made some of your blog private. Email me if you want me to check again, my email link is on my profile.
