As of today, I've raised enough money to participate in the Jim Calhoun Cancer Challenge Ride!
We raffled off the gift basket that I put together with some of my co-workers and some generous donations from a Day Spa, (they donated a manicure, pedicure and facial), and a Biagi Beads dealer donated a nice gift certificate as well.
All together the gift basket raffle and the lottery scratch ticket raffle, (raffled a sports water bottle filled with $20 assorted scratch tickets), earned $469.05. The basket was filled with pretty good stuff; 2 bottles of wine; Vera Wang Sheets and a ton of other stuff.
Well I'm not done yet because the race is June 13, so from now on I'll just be begging for money all over the place, because doing that well feels really good. I won some awards for fundraising during this past holiday season, in fact my co-coordinators and I raised more money than any other department where I work, and our state agency rocked all the other state agencies for charitable giving.
It feels really good, when you know that you can bring out the good in people- even if it only lasts a moment- the moments are mine- with all goodness and sincerity, this I keep in my soul and remember when people aren't so nice, and the money goes to worthy causes. I call that a good deal.
Now tomorrow is the first of 7 manditory furlough days that we've negotiated, each occuring before or after a holiday. The deal isn't so bad, and Gov Jodi Rell seems happy, and word is no lay-offs. WooHoo!! Big training day for me tomorrow!!
****ALSO, any comments on Team In Training, I'd love to hear them, I'm considering becoming a member, I really need a mentor...****

Good job on the fundraising!
That gift basket sounded like exactly what I need...
ZOMG, sister, maybe I've just seen too many porn films, but I can't read about offers of "facials" without sniggering like a 13 year-old. Plus ... facials on Vera Wang sheets?
Hahahahaha!
Um ... and if it is that kind of facial, I'm willing to donate one. Hahahahaha!
O, man, I am a creepy old-guy pig!
But good job on the fundraising, sister!
Keep it up! (That's what she said!)
Sorry!
I really am a pig!
buprunner Runs, Bikes and Swims, Slowly ...
Hey! That's a new blog title!
See? I'm not all about being a creepy old guy. I notice other things too.
But mostly I notice facials. And Wangs.
nice gift basket and great job on the fundraising! Don't know anyone in TNT, but seen a few bloggers that are involved.
G,
You really aren't THAT much older than I am, stop rubbing it in!!
(HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)!!!
You noticed the title change, me too, thx!
Great job with the fundraising!!
And thanks for the nice comment to my post yesterday, it meant a lot.
Nice job, great cause, they will come if it's a cause you believe in.
I'm sure you'll find a good mentor for TNT.
Way to go little lady. I know what you mean. Me and members of my website raised money for Kosair Children's Hospital here in Louisville, and surprisingly to us, we ended up 1/6th of the total raised. It really feels good when you can do something to give back. By the way, your donation page now has a little something on it as well. Keep up the great work.
That is awesome! I love the raffle idea - I wish I had thought of it before the Pig. I raised money in my nephew's name for JDRF, but not much and I bet a raffle would have been a great way to do it. YOU ROCK! Can I steal your idea?!?
Of Course!!! I stole that from some other friends!! (Actually I work with a girl who loves to raise money for charity, so it was managable.
I loved working with Team in Training!!! I had a great experience and totally recommend it.
